Oh my God.

Thousands of people have been killed across south and east Asia in massive sea surges triggered by the strongest earthquake in the world for 40 years.

The 8.9 magnitude quake struck under the sea near Aceh in north Indonesia, generating a wall of water that sped across thousands of kilometres of sea.

Sunday’s tremor - the fifth strongest since 1900 - had a particularly widespread effect because it seems to have taken place just below the surface of the ocean, analysts say.

And Malaysia’s affected too (all of life is precious, yes, but it stuns me even more because Malaysia is hardly ever affected by natural disasters like earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, etc). Our worst problem is probably the annual monsoon floods in lower areas (like in Terengganu), but at least that’s something we can time and expect.

This is just a shocker. :(

In neighbouring Malaysia, at least 20 people were reported killed after the tidal waves hit. Most of the dead were in the holiday resort of Penang.

What a way to celebrate the holidays. :(

Exactly a year ago, on December 26th, 2003… Bam earthquake.

Him: Oh, I found the West Virginia postcard. ;;)
Me: LOL
Me: And I thought it was hopelessly lost :P
Him: Nope, did some cleaning this morning.
Him: Amazing!
Him: It was right where I … uh hum … left it. -_-

Bad, bad server. No donut for you

Unfortunately, the orkut.com server has acted out in an unexpected way. Hopefully, it will return to its helpful self if you try again in a few minutes.

It’s likely that the server will behave this way on occasion during the coming months. We apologize for the inconvenience and for our server’s lack of consideration for others.

Dang, I like the computer centre’s computers (I only frequent two, one is the department’s which is still old and slow, and the other is the library scanning and CD-burning capable computer room). They just got some new spiffy ones - new CPU, new monitor, new keyboard, new mouse, new scanner, the whole works. Probably just got them in in the last couple of weeks… I should know, I come here way too often for the… uhm, utilities (burning and scanning, mainly… too bad they don’t burn *.iso files, I tried everything and I can’t install any programs that modify the registry, which leaves me pretty much in the rut).

Anyway, I like the new computers! White (clean!) keyboards, white/grey (clean!) mice, faster CD-burning speed, and gorgeous 19″ monitors! I wouldn’t mind spending more of my time here… except that it’ll mean less studying, and walking home really, really late at night.

Speaking of late at night, I think someone thought I was following him yesterday night when I was walking home, cause I was walking really quietly and kept the same pace he was walking, and it was really, really dark that time with no one else around. He kept glacing back at me, roffle. But what the hell was I supposed to do when he’s walking right in the middle of the small pavement?! I can’t “overtake” him, so what’s there to do other than to keep the same pace?

Yeah, well. :P I’m just not the stalker type, sorry.

Okay, what am I doing here posting this… blah. Feeling kind of hyper and talkative, must be a post-exam thing. This always happen, I should know better than to have more sugary things in the afternoon (seedless grapes, teehee!). Should be doing research. RESEARCH. And Powerpoint crap. Yea.

I hate being awake for longer than ten minutes before an exam. People said it’s great if you wake up bright and early for an exam day all prepared to take it on, but I beg to differ.

It gives me too much time to freak out (yes, contrary to popular beliefs, I do freak out before exams).

I probably do better when I’m half-asleep and don’t have time to think about… failing.

Bah. I will ace this damn thing. I WILL. >:O
